With AirAsia India on the verge of announcing their final launch dates in India, Malaysia-based LCC Malindo Air is also eyeing the Indian skies. Though AirAsia India will be stronger on domestic routes connecting mini-metros with Tier-II cities; Malindo Air will be connecting New Delhi with Kuala Lumpur. The airline intends to start operations by August 15 this year (as per the Chairman of Tourism Malaysia Ng Yen Yen), has received approvals from Indian transport ministry and is awaiting permissions from Civil Aviation Ministry. Other than New Delhi, the airline had also received approvals at home to fly to Mumbai and other South Indian destinations. Malindo operates Boeing’s Next-Generation 737-900ER (Extended Range). At present, national carrier Malaysia Airlines is the sole Malaysian airline operating flights to New Delhi.
