Tourism Authority of Thailand will tap digital marketing through partnerships with TripAdvisor, Google and a travel comparison website Zizzee.
Speaking at a presentation on the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s 2013 Online Tourism Marketing Plan, late last week, TAT governor Suraphon Svetasreni said digital marketing was a key tool to support marketing and to build the country’s tourism competitiveness.
“Digital marketing strategy will give access to travellers both foreigners and Thais through the internet, social networks and smart phones.”
“FaceBook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest are the main channels for digital marketing,” he added.
To compete with rival destinations, TAT will partner with the following in 2013:
• TripAdvisor to use reviews on the TAT website together with the authority’s information to raise data quality and present a direct experience to increase internet visitors and page views at www.tourismthailand.org;
• Google to expand destinations on Google Street View projects to World Heritage Sites such as Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary covering Kanchanaburi, Tak and Uthai Thani, Si Satchanalai Historical Park in Sukhothai and Ayutthaya Historical Park in Ayutthaya. The project currently covers just parts of Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket;
• Zizzee, a website presenting hotel, car rental, and airline prices and tourism promotions; a one-stop service which will be included in TAT website for travellers to search, compare prices and purchase programmes.
TAT will continue to support Smile Land game on FaceBook and also mini games for iPhone, iPad, Android, Nokia Ovi, and WindowsPhone.
